Osprey takes a closer look at the photographer

Driving up to Arnold early on Memorial weekend I spotted the three osprey in their nest high above the power lines. The highway passes right under their nest, so they are used to visitors. I was quite surprised at the attention I attracted from the large osprey. He was very aware of me trying to casually approach. It might have been the 600mm lens he wanted to check out. There were other people in the area but they paid no attention to him and he paid no attention to them. He cawed out a few time then took to the air to check me out. I tried to look inconspicuous behind a telephone pole, to no avail, he flew right above me looking straight down. After giving me a close inspection, he flew back to the nest. I turned and left, afraid I had disturb the osprey family. He did put on an unexpected show for me. I got some nice shots.
